Some of the fun hair trends that can be done at home or at salon are all kinds of braids or adding a little hair bling. If you want to try at home the hair bling available at amazon.com and comes in a huge variety of colors and comes with instructions. 
The waterfall/cascade braid is a hot trend right now. I am seeing the braid for prom,wedding,juvenile,or just a creative everyday braid. If you are not going to have your stylist perform the braid you can always go to YouTube and watch some of the tutorial's on the waterfall braid (it is easier than you might think).
